Indoor Activities for Kids

Indoor Activities for Kids to Battle the Boredom

Indoor activities for kids are a must when your kids are off school and you just need to keep them from driving you up the wall!

These activities are geared more towards toddlers/preschool children but some can be adapted for older kids too.

They're easy, cheap and fun with an mix between physical activities and quiet activities making it the perfect list to have on hand for those rainy days you can't get out.

1. This game is really simple but firstly it's super cute! And secondly it's really quick and easy to set up and can keep your kids busy for ages!

Obviously you don't need to go and buy a white bucket and some white balls. Just use what you have at home. If it's the same colour you can draw a face on it and give it a fitting name.

2. This is the perfect indoor activity for rainy days. Great for ages 3-4 but can be adapted to be more challenging for ages 7-10, e.g use craft supplies to create obstacles.

A really cheap idea (but completely free if you already have masking tape!).

3. This awesome activity is the perfect addition to your toddlers/preschoolers days. It's fun, simple yet challenging enough to keep their attention. It works on their gross and fine motor skills and is really simple to DIY.

It's another (almost) FREE activity which you can DIY using things you already have at home.

4. When it comes to indoor activities for kids this one is one of my faves! Seriously how cute is this activity.

So simple yet you can really get your creative juices flowing.

Open ended activities mean your children can keep playing ages! These are the kinds of activities that are perfect for those rainy days in the winter. Especially since it uses a window!

It's a quiet activity ideal for young children (think toddlers/preschool children) but if your kids are anything like mine, the older kids always end up getting involved!

Keep Indoor Activities Simple

5. Tell me why kids like playing "tennis" with paper plates and a balloon more than with an actual tennis racket!

My kids had a go at with this activity and had a blast!

It's great for a birthday party as well since you will likely already have balloons and paper plates on hand.

6 .This indoor activity for kids is a little similar to the previous one but since you're using a fly swatter it makes sense to draw some flies on a few of the balloons and ask your child to get the flies. Of you have a bunch of balloons, this is an easy way to add some fun into your day at home.

7. Indoor activities don't have to be reserved for rainy days.

Sometimes in the summer, you reach that point of exhaustion where you can't drag yourself out of the house, but your kids have far too much energy to have a quiet day at home.

This is where you need physical activities that are as mess free as possible.

Something like this simple activity is the way forward!

It's so simple and easy yet full of fun and will really burn that energy!

8. This is the perfect indoor activity for my paper plane obsessed son. Simple and easy to prep (which you could also get your kids to do) and can keep them busy for ages. They can set up a tournament!

Realy simple, cheap and fun!

9. I do love simple indoor activities for kids that help the kids get physical and burn off that energy.

Activities that use only 1 think like masking tape to set up are always a winner. This could be used for any ages whether is 3-4 year olds, 7-10 or even 10-12 year olds. The school will love you too if you're using the opportunity to make it educational!

10. I'd say this is another indoor activity for kids during a birthday party but can obviously come in handy when you just need your toddler to keep busy when you're having a rainy day at home.
